Ronald, a homeless veteran, spent 26 years in the Department Of Corrections (DOC) in Texas. After re-entry 2 1/2 years ago, he has had a difficult time finding employment due to the type of offense he was charged with.
Workforce Solution
Referred to Employment Services of Weld County (ESWC) by the Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP), Ronald was enrolled into Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program. Ronald’s WIOA case manager placed him at a worksite that specializes in assisting people with difficult-to-hire offenses. Working with the Director of the Rock Foundation, his case manager put together a work experience training that will help teach Ronald current employment skills.
Outcomes & Benefits
Ronald was co-enrolled into the COResponds program and received work-based learning working as a facilities maintenance tech, keeping the worksite clean to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Ronald has gained valuable job skills and has found a purpose in his life.
