Jair came to our program having been out of work for a year, was laid off due to COVID. He had family in the trucking business and had helped them and always wanted to work in this field. He had begun studying and obtained his permit 4months prior to enrolling but did not have funds to pay for training and local training programs he had looked into were offered in English. Jair had graduated high school but he stated was not very fluent in English and had preferred a training program in Spanish.
I enrolled Jair and encouraged him to take assessments. Though he did not do well on the Workplace Readiness nor TABE he at least tried. We enrolled him in Colorado Trucking College where some of the training courses are offered in Spanish but with the understanding that the main test would be in English.
Jair successfully completed the course on 9/26/22 and was offered a job as a trainer due to his positive demeanor and forming a good rapport with instructors and fellow students. His hire date was on 10/23/22.
