Jackson began his Pikes Peak Workforce Center journey in March 2021. He had completed an associate degree in IT and was looking for assistance in get his IT career started with limited experience.
We enrolled Jackson in our Youth WIOA program with a plan to enter a work experience. He attended the Work Readiness Seminar in March2021. Following completion of WRS, he worked with a Job Coach to tailor his resume for a database support internship with a PPWFC partner employer, Quantum Research. Jackson began the internship in May 2021. All of the feedback from the employer during his internship reflected Jackson’s technical knowledge and strong work ethic. During the work experience, Jackson was considered for a position with a Quantum contract, but that opportunity didn’t work out.
However, when his internship ended in September 2021, another opportunity became available at Quantum. Jackson updated his resume with his internship experience and applied for the position. Quantum offered Jackson the position and is accommodating Jackson’s plan to continue his education to earn a bachelor's degree in IT. The employer is also submitting Jackson’s application for a secret clearance as part of the job requirement.
