Workforce Challenge
Youth face many challenges when trying to enter the workforce. Through the Summer Youth Employment Program during the summer of 2009, Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas utilized American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds to employ over 1,200 youths in the Dallas/Fort Worth region. This opportunity allowed youth to gain work readiness skills and work experience.
Workforce Solution
Workforce Solutions worked with local employers and educational organizations to prepare tomorrow's workforce today. By providing computer training, workshops and actual employment, we jumpstarted the future for hundreds of young adults. The Youth Staff in our Workforce Centers worked individually with each program participant to identify their skills and needs to provide them with the most beneficial opportunity.
Outcomes & Benefits
We provided meaningful work experience opportunities for more than 1,200 youth participants. The Board’s contracted goal was to only serve 927 participants; however, we worked to impact as many individuals as possible. Additionally, more than 400 employers from the private sector and local governments participated in this initiative, allowing greater exposure to our purpose and the value we bring to the communities we serve.
