Workforce Success Story Submitted By: Massachusetts Workforce Professionals Association
Workforce Challenge
Michael* was a management analyst for Fidelity Investments when his job was eliminated in 2009. He was unsuccessful in his own job search efforts and turned to the Metro South/West Career Centers for assistance.
Workforce Solution
Under a National Emergency Grant managed by Metro South/West, Michael was referred to a three week training program at the AGI Goldratt Institute. The training program, called Jonah, focuses on the Theory of Constraints (TOC), a thought process linked to Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement methodologies. The process helps businesses develop product strategies, solve customer problems, reduce process variability and implement change.
Outcomes & Benefits
Shortly after completion, PricewaterhouseCoopers offered Michael a job as a director at a $40,000 increase over his Fidelity Investment salary. Michael is thrilled with the new position and is grateful for the opportunity to take the Jonah Program through Metro South/West Career Center after being unemployed for almost a year.
