Workforce Success Story Submitted By: Burlington County Workforce Investment Board
Workforce Challenge
Despite being a dedicated and motivated individual, Regina came to the Burlington County One-Stop Career Center as a dislocated worker. She had been employed as an Account Clerk for 14 ½ years with the 7-11 Company when she was laid off due to the company’s downsizing. Regina found herself unemployed, with two children and no marketable skills to obtain a self-sustaining job.
Workforce Solution
Hearing of the offerings through the Burlington County One-Stop Career Center, Regina realized that this was an opportunity for her to obtain the skills necessary to find employment. After meeting with a counselor, Regina received WIA funding to attend Medical Consultants Instructional Training Center in Cherry Hill, NJ, to train as a Medical Billing Specialist.
Outcomes & Benefits
Upon completion of the Medical Billing Specialist/Customer Service Specialist curriculum, Regina was initially hired at Title Resources Group of Mt. Laurel. However, she quickly moved on to use her new credentials as a Medical Billing Specialist/CSS in a job as a Medical Biller at Generation Inc. through the Bethany Association of Somerdale, NJ. Her salary is $34,000 a year. Congratulations, Regina!
