Workforce Success Story Submitted By: Mesa County Workforce Center
Workforce Challenge
Kylie has a lack of income, challenges with homelessness, and criminal charges. She has faced substance abuse issues and a limited support system. She hopes to enter and maintain employment to help her obtain much-needed income to support her self and work towards furthering self-sufficiency.
Workforce Solution
The WIOA Youth program was able to help connect Kylie with an employer looking for a Work Experience Intern. Kylie began a Work Experience at an assisted living center with the Environmental Services Department to gain skills and experience towards unsubsidized employment.
Outcomes & Benefits
Kylie has continued to struggle in her new Work Experience, some personal situations led to having to pause her placement until stabilization. Kylie's case manager has been diligently working to keep her stable and moving forward. We received the following email today from the WE worksite "The manner in which R.K. (WIOA Case Manger) lead the conversation was a phenomenal experience. She was extremely professional all while balancing kindness and a true want to help Kylie out. She was concise, kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, willing to help, and a true pleasure to work alongside."
