Workforce Success Story Submitted By: Central Oklahoma Workforce Investment Board
Workforce Challenge
Kenneth was employed at a large document management company for 3 ½ years and truly loved his job. He was a Division Manager and hoped to retire from this company. He felt fortunate to have found a job where he felt confident in what he did and worked really well with the people around him. Then, in 2009 the company closed its operations and Kenneth lost his job.
Workforce Solution
Kenneth was unprepared and, in fact, devastated by this. He worked with center staff through the Workforce Investment Act/ Trade Adjustment Act process and discovered that he was interested in Aircraft Maintenance. He enrolled in a program at Metro Tech. Kenneth described himself as a hard worker who didn’t mind working through a problem until he got it right. He partnered with Workforce Oklahoma to receive training. He studied and worked very hard and center staff arranged to provide the financial support and career guidance to help him meet his goal.
