Meet Jeanna

Colorado - Meet Jeanna

Workforce Success Story Submitted By: Canon City Workforce Center

Workforce Challenge

Jeanna was a married mother of one whose husband is in the process of applying for disability insurance. They had been on TANF for several years and were warned by their caseworker that they were near exhausting their lifetime limit for TANF.

Workforce Solution

Jeanna was referred to the WIOA program by her caseworker. In discussion with Jeanna, we determined that the fastest way to get her working in an in-demand occupation was to help her get trained as a CNA.

Outcomes & Benefits

Jeanna graduated from one of the last CNA courses right before the COVID-19 crisis struck and closed CNA trainings down temporarily. She was able to get a job at a nursing home facility almost immediately and because there is such a demand for CNA's in our rural area, she started out making wages of $18/per hour. Jeanna is thrilled with her new job, and is happy to be able to help out during the COVID-19 crisis.
