Workforce Challenge
Jayne, a former military service member, wanted to find a job closer to where her family lives. She had been laid off from her prior position and had begun working as a waitress. She visited her local workforce services office regularly to search for jobs among their available listings, and to receive job referrals from staff.
Workforce Solution
A temporary service agency had been in contact with the workforce office's Veterans' Representative seeking to fill an office position at a local manufacturing facility. The position included clerical work and presenting a good face for the company. The Veterans' Rep. immediately thought of Jayne, and contacted her to tell her about the job and to ask if he could forward her resume. She had an interview later that week.
Outcomes & Benefits
Jayne was offered the clerical position and began working at the company shortly thereafter. During a follow-up from the workforce office, the Veterans' Rep. spoke with Jayne, who said she is working long hours and the pay is really good. She is very happy with her position.
