Workforce Success Story Submitted By: Fort Morgan Workforce Center
Workforce Challenge
Dianne is a Displaced Homemaker who had been in an abusive marriage. She has one child at home and two adult children living with her. She had mental health issues from the abuse, and was painting and cleaning houses to make a living. She had a lot of financial struggles as well.
Workforce Solution
Dianne was referred to WIOA by the local Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. There was coordination with VR from the beginning. She wanted to be an LPN. All of the tests and evaluations indicated this would be a good choice to support her family. She chose a private school in Denver due to the abuse situation. The plan we developed would not duplicate services or finances, and each organization contributed to her success.
Outcomes & Benefits
Dianne completed her LPN program in February, 2020. She tested for her State LPN License in March, 2020. She has two different job offers in the Denver area paying $21+/hr. She is very happy and confident in her future. Her demeanor and confidence is profoundly different than it was in the beginning. She sent a Thank You Card expressing gratitude to WFC staff and Voc Rehab.
