Workforce Success Story Submitted By: Employment Services of Weld County
Workforce Challenge
Desiree was on Unemployment and attended a Re-Employment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) Program appointment with Employment Services of Weld County (ESWC). She had recently gained a part-time position with USPS as a delivery helper, working one day a week, which meant she would remain on Unemployment. Desiree’s employment goal was to gain full-time employment in the Clerk/Clerical field. Her barriers to employment included insecurities about her job searching and interviewing abilities and skills; an outdated resume that needed updating and reformatting; and appropriate attire for interviewing and employment.
Workforce Solution
During our RESEA appointment, Desiree’s RESEA Career Representative signed her up for ESWC’s Wagner-Peyser "7 Steps to Getting the Job You Want" workshop, and a one-on-one appointment with a Wagner-Peyser Career Resource Representative to review Desiree’s resume to provide formatting resumes to specific jobs. Desiree was referred to a local partner, who helps provide women with interview and work attire, and several online clothing websites.
Outcomes & Benefits
Desiree successfully completed the workshop, gaining new skills and confidence. She attended her one-on-one resume appointment and learned how to create targeted resumes. She was able to obtain appropriate clothing for interviewing and employment through the resources provided. Within a month of Desiree’s first meeting with Employment Services of Weld County staff and utilizing our services, Desiree was hired on at the 19th Judicial District of Weld County.
