Damaris was a single mother of three and had been recently laid off. She found herself unemployed for the first time in her life.

Demaris decided that additional education would help her make a positive career change. Her goal was to become a registered health information technician but she lacked the financial resources to achieve that on her own. CareerSource offered Demaris financial assistance and emotional support to reach her goals. Damaris earned both a medical billing and coding technical certificate, and graduated Summa Cum Laude with an Associates of Science degree in Health Information Technology.
Outcomes & Benefits
Demaris was offered two different positions immediately upon graduating. She attributes her successful completion of schooling and the promise of future career satisfaction to the support of the WIA program and staff.
