Workforce Challenge
Charla had worked as a shipping clerk at a manufacturing plant for over 20 years until the company closed it doors. Charla had planned on working in her job until retirement and had not participated in any kind of recent work skills training. After seeking new employment, she realized that her current work skills were ill-suited to prepare her for the job market.
Workforce Solution
Charla came to the Green River Area One-Stop Center for assistance with her transition back into the local work force. She wanted to change careers into a high demand career and enrolled in the business accounting program at a local community college.
Outcomes & Benefits
Charla graduated, with honors, and obtained an associate's degree in business accounting. With her new degree and her enhanced work skills, Charla was able to find employment in a local medical facility in the accounts receivable and billing department. Her employer has encouraged her to continue in school to receive on even more certifications that will assist her in her new career.
