Austin was enrolled at Vanderbilt High School, but he wasn't really interested in school anymore – and it was reflected in his performance. If anything, he was just there for the social aspect. After speaking with his school principle and counselor, they determined GED may be a better route for Austin. It was a tough decision for Austin to make, but after multiple discussions, Austin accepted the fact that he was already too many classes behind to graduate with his classmates (Class of 2020).
Workforce Solution
With the help of his Michigan Works! Youth Career Advisor, Beth, Austin completed his GED prep classes and his exams. He also participated in leadership development and received drivers training.
Outcomes and Benefits: Austin passed all of his testing and completed his GED just a week after his high school classmates graduated.
