Meet Amy

Workforce Challenge

After finding herself laid off from her administrative support job after 13 years, Amy came to the Cumberland County One Stop in search of guidance and assistance in finding her next position. Several career-building workshops and consultations with the staff indicated that Amy needed to upgrade her computer skills in order to build upon her previous experience and to keep her competitive as a candidate.

Workforce Solution

Amy entered the Microsoft Office Specialist Master Certification Program at NJ Career Center in June, 2006, using workforce funding. She was a very quick learner and rapidly moved through the class. The training provider was so impressed with Amy's abilities and skills that they offered her employment even before she had completed the entire program.

Outcomes & Benefits

Amy was hired by the NJ Career Center in January, 2007, as an Administrative Representative. Amy has greatly enjoyed her employment with NJCC and has seen her duties and responsibilities increase as time has progressed. Amy also received a significant raise after her first year in recognition of her continued hard work and diligence.
