Workforce Challenge

Jolly Transport, LLC, a wheelchair and stretcher transportation business in Boca Raton, FL saw an opportunity to expand its business, but could not do it unless they first hired and trained a dispatcher. They knew that it would be very difficult to grow their newly created business without this additional staff person, but they did not have the resources to do it.

Workforce Solution

Jolly Transport looked to their local workforce development organization, Workforce Alliance, for assistance. There, they learned that they might be eligible for a federally-funded On-the-Job training (OJT) grant which would provide fifty percent of the wages of a new employee while in training. They made the application, were awarded the funding, and placed a new employee into the OJT program.

Outcomes & Benefits

As a result of receiving funding Jolly Transport was able to financially support the full-time hire of the individual after completion of the training program. The company is now on track with its expansion goals with the right person in place to help support its planned growth.
