Meet Bryan

Workforce Challenge

Bryan went to work one morning and learned that the company where he worked had filed for bankruptcy, and the next day would be his last day of employment. Bryan was married and the father of three small children. His wife stayed home with the children so he was the only source of income. He started looking for work immediately after becoming unemployed, but he knew he needed training to make him more marketable as a job candidate.

Workforce Solution

Bryan came into the Arkansas Workforce Center and requested information about going to school. As a dislocated worker, he qualified for WIA funds to help with tuition, books, and fees. Bryan checked into the training options at University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) and decided to pursue an Associate's Degree in Computer Information Systems.

Outcomes & Benefits

Bryan is now in his second semester at UACCM and is doing very well. He is carrying a full load of classes and is excited about the employment opportunities available when he graduates next year. "WIA," says Bryan, "is an awesome opportunity for a lot of people."
