Meet Amadis

Workforce Challenge

Amadis Anguiano was a college drop out. He was attending UC Santa Cruz majoring in engineering, and realized it was just not for him - so he quit. He came home, and was stuck, without direction. His mom suggested Marin Employment Connection.

Workforce Solution

Amadis met with a counselor who guided him through career assessment. One of his areas of interest was culinary, and the counselor was able to arrange a private tour with a chef at the Sheraton. Amadis knew he would enjoy this type of work. He also knew his math and science background could serve him well in the culinary field.

Through Regional Occupational Programs, he enrolled in the Culinary Arts curriculum, and was a star student. Encouraged by this success, he went on to complete a culinary certification with Santa Rosa Junior College.

Outcomes & Benefits

Amadis wanted to get his first job in a well known restaurant that would offer additional training and a potential career path. He successfully landed a position last month (after seven interviews!) with the Cheesecake Factory. He is on the path for a successful culinary career.
