Meet Bobby

Workforce Challenge

In 2009, Bobby came to the Workforce Center after being laid off from a poultry processing plant where he'd worked as a Maintenance Technician for fifteen years. While unemployed, Bobby decided to work as a volunteer EMT for the Office of Emergency Management in Hampton, Arkansas, an experience which inspired him to consider a career in the medical field. In order to pursue this goal, however, he would need financial assistance.

Workforce Solution

Bobby took the advice he received from a partner agency and approached the Workforce Center to determine if assistance from WIA was available. Bobby completed the WIA application and was approved for services shortly thereafter. Bobby began his studies in the Nursing program at Southern Arkansas University Tech (SAU Tech) in Camden, Arkansas in August, 2009.

Outcomes & Benefits

Bobby is now living his dream as an LPN. He enjoys his field of work and is pleased to have received services from WIA. He is employed as an LPN at a long-term care facility in Monticello, Arkansas, where his wages exceed those that he earned at the poultry processor. Bobby is now in a career where there are opportunities for advancement. He fought long and hard to achieve his goals, and his diligence and selflessness paid off. Congratulations, Bobby!
