Workforce Challenge

The Mountain Home campus of Arkansas State University needed to assist graduating students with preparing an effective resume to present to potential employers at an upcoming job fair.

Workforce Solution

The ASUMH Career Placement Coordinator, Tamara Mitchell, contacted the WIA Resource Specialist and Employment Training Advisor at the Mountain Home Workforce Center to request their assistance and expertise. Students were taught how to write a resume that will work well in today's job market and were given information on sources for job searching.

"The information the Workforce staff presented concerning resumes and employment was essential to the success of the event," said Tamara. "Career Placement at ASUMH and the WIA Program share similar goals to facilitate the development of necessary job search skills. I have found that working with the WIA Program has been very valuable. Their services are both needed and utilized by our community."

Outcomes & Benefits

The students prepared "combination" resumes that highlight their personal skills, education, and experience. These resumes will be beneficial in helping to secure employment both at the upcoming job fair and in the open job market.
