Meet Joanne

Workforce Challenge

Joanne was laid off from her Collection Services position at a large telecommunications employer in October, 2009. She needed assistance finding a new job that matched her qualifications.

Workforce Solution

Joanne was able to access State Additional Assistance funds via the WIB (Oregon Workforce Alliance) at Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council (COIC). This money provided rental assistance, short-term financial software training, and gas cards to use during her job search. She attended our job search and computer workshops and her employment counselor assisted her in organizing her search and finding the best opportunities based on her skills and abilities.

Outcomes & Benefits

Joanne was hired in March 2011 as a bank teller. “It has been a long, hard journey to find employment in one of the hardest hit regions of unemployment. I have recently accepted a position with a local bank and am looking forward to going back to work. Thank you COIC for all of your assistance and words of encouragement.”
