Meet Marta

Workforce Challenge

When Marta arrived at the WIA Training Office she was determined to be trained in medical coding and billing. Marta's WIA Career Counselor at the Greater Raritan Workforce office encouraged her to look at other options, and they met several times to explore her interests and aptitudes. Skills assessments revealed a strong array of professional skills that Marta had developed during her career. Although she was insecure and wary of attending "college", the support and career exploration Marta received from the WIA Counselor helped her decide to investigate 3 schools with a goal of pursuing additional training the in Accounting field.

Outcomes & Benefits

Marta continued to meet with the WIA counselor to discuss her educational options, career path and build her confidence to attend the regional community college to obtain her certificate in computerized accounting using WIA funds. This training augmented her professional experience well. Upon completion, Marta obtained full time employment based on her upgraded skills. She is now content in her job and pursuing her Associate's degree as a result of her positive experience with the WIA training class.
