Meet Sebastian

Workforce Challenge

Sebastian is 20 years old, single, and out of high school. He lives in a small remote area where jobs are extremely hard to find. He has no reliable transportation and lives with whomever will take him in. He has no family support. When he was in high school, he had participated in a workforce program through the Arkansas Workforce Center in Harrison. Now, he needed help again to find a job that would allow him to stabilize his life and support himself.

Workforce Solution

Sebastian returned to the workforce center for assistance. The help he'd received in high school had made an impression -- he'd felt cared about and valued during his experience there. This time, Sebastian was enrolled in the Work Experience program and was placed in a position at a well known local company making $10.00 per hour.

Outcomes & Benefits

The pay he earned through Work Experience really turned things around for Sebastian. He was able to purchase a reliable vehicle and move into his own apartment only miles from his job. After completing the assignment, Sebastian was hired full time with benefits by the same employer. Sebastian is now self-sufficient and is grateful for the difference that workforce programs made in his life.
