Meet Antonio

Workforce Challenge

Antonio had no work experience when he came to the Heart of Georgia Altamaha Workforce office for the summer youth employment program. This program serves youth 14 - 21 who are economically disadvantaged, basic skills deficient, or have other barriers that will make it difficult for them to find employment.

Workforce Solution

Through the WIA-funded program, Antonio was placed in a job at Franklin Memorial Library. He learned general clerical skills, all about the library systems, soft skills in customer service and work ethics such as showing up on time, working hard, and performing duties with a positive outlook.

Outcomes & Benefits

"At Franklin Memorial Library I learned how to present myself to the patrons that came in. I learned the Pines System Policies of the library," said Antonio. "I would love to participate in this program next year. My whole personality and my attitude has changed. All of the money I earned went to school supplies and to my mother for bills, groceries, gas, etc." Antonio's work experience made a lasting impression that he'll remember as he begins to look towards the future.
