Meet Brittany

Workforce Challenge

During high school Brittany was placed under special needs and an Individual Education Plan was developed for her educational needs. Brittany had very low self esteem and little confidence that she could achieve any goals in life. Brittany participated in the WIA Summer Youth Program in 2009. At this time she had no high school diploma or GED.

Workforce Solution

After participating in the WIA Summer Youth Porgram, Brittany spoke with her WIA case manager and expressed a desire to obtain her GED. After attending GED classes to increase her skill levels, Brittany was ready to take the GED exam. She passed the exam on her first attempt. Brittany was motivated to continue her success to another level. She spoke with her WIA case manager about her desire to become a Patient Care Technician.

Outcomes & Benefits

The encouragement from her WIA case manager has helped Brittany achieve goals she once thought not possible. In August, 2010, Brittany started Aiken Technical College in the Certified Nursing Assistant Program. She has completed the Certified Nursing Assistant Program with an average of 97%. She is moving on to complete the Phlebotomy and ECG Technician components of the Patient Care Technician Program. Congratulations, Brittany!
