Meet Justin

Workforce Challenge

Justin entered the WIA Youth Program in October, 2009, unsure of what his future would hold. He was only sure of one thing: he had to do something with his life since he had just become a father. Justin needed quick training with potential to generate a descent income. As Justin stood at the proverbial cross road, he researched his options and himself to see where his passions lay.

Workforce Solution

While working on a local farm to help make ends meet, Justin realized his love for horses was more than just a matter of liking to ride them. He became passionate about taking care of them. This led to his interest in Horseshoeing. As a result, Justin presented his desire to obtain horse farrier training to his WIA case manager. He completed the research requirements and began WIA funded training at a school in Georgia in February, 2010.

Outcomes & Benefits

Justin successfully completed his training in 12 weeks. He has since started his own business in Barnwell County, South Carolina. Justin commutes to farms and ranches in the surrounding counties while his business continues to grow and provide him a self sustaining income. Congratulations, Justin!
