Meet LaJuan

Workforce Challenge

LaJuan Transon was unemployed and needed help to be successful in his job search. He had an outdated resume and needed to work on his interviewing skills.

Workforce Solution

LaJuan attended a Re-employment Services (RES) orientation where he received detailed information about the services available through the West Jefferson Business and Career Solutions Center, including assistance with resume writing, job application and interviewing. He also learned about training and workshops available through Delgado Community College. Center staff listened to LaJuan's career goals and created a plan to help him achieve those goals. LaJuan's RES agent worked with him to develop and update his resume to best highlight his skills. A recruitment and placement officer at the center then recommended him for a marine electrician job opening.

Outcomes & Benefits

Based on his skills and the recruitment and placement officer's recommendation, LaJuan was hired for the marine electrician job. Attending the RES orientation was the first step for LaJuan to make the transition from unemployment to re-employment in a field that he enjoys.
