Workforce Challenge

Kim Holland, as an entrepreneur and marketing professional in Palm Beach County, Florida, found her business on a decline as the statewide and national recession started to take hold in 2008. That was when she decided to dissolve her business, take her talents to a corporate environment, and make her initial attempts to enter the job market. "I found it a challenge," she now recalls. "I picked up a few part-time projects but didn't even get a call back for an interview after responding to a job posting."

Workforce Solution

In August 2010 she visited Workforce Alliance's Professional Placement Network office in West Palm Beach. "I got a great deal of one-on-one help, particularly in improving my resume and learning how to use the Employ Florida Marketplace database to find job opportunities. As a result, I had the chance to be interviewed at several places, including SeaView Radio, where I landed my present job as the Director of Broadcasting Sales and Marketing."

Outcomes & Benefits

Kim is now using her entrepreneurial and marketing skills for her new employer. "This is an expanding radio station and I am increasing my own talents and business savvy as I market their unique services. I will always be grateful to Workforce Alliance and the Professional Placement Network for giving me the additional support that I needed at a critical time."
