Workforce Challenge

Chanlin came to the Middle Georgia Consortium's Summer Teen Partnership Recruitment session held at Hawkinsville High School. Chanlin expressed her desire to earn money since her senior year was approaching. She did not want to place additional burdens on her already financially strapped family. She wanted to enjoy all of the activities afforded seniors and make her journey through high school one of the most memorable events in her life.

Workforce Solution

Chanlin's interests, maturity level, personality and demeanor dictated a need for placement in a worksite that would be demanding, yet enjoyable. Chanlin was placed at the Pulaski County Department of Family and Children Services office. Working at DFACS helped Chanlin to determine her career path, enhanced her skill level and allowed her to earn money which she needs in order to fund her senior year activities. Chanlin was transferred to the WIA Year-Round Program at the end of her completion of the Summer Teen Partnership Program.

Outcomes & Benefits

Chanlin continues to work at DFACS where she is relished by her supervisor and the office staff. Chanlin will graduate from Hawkinsville High School on May 27, 2011. She plans to leave Hawkinsville to attend a church school which she believes will help to put her in touch with her "true self". Chanlin is to be revered for her dedication and fortitude which she exemplifies as she works to realize her dream. Chanlin maintains an "A" average and sets the tone for her peers and superiors.
