Meet Tracy

Workforce Challenge

Armed with an MBA, Tracy accepted a role as a management trainee at the corporate office of a national building supply company. After a little over a year in the position, her program was disbanded and she was displaced along with over 500 other staff. An outplacement firm handling her layoff introduced her to the WIA program. She initially was under the impression that because she already attained a Masters degree she would not be eligible for such a program but she proceeded to apply anyway.

Workforce Solution

At CobbWorks, Inc. she completed the application process and met with a workforce development specialist. Advised of her options for attaining a license/certification, she decided to become a Project Management Professional and leverage the 12+ years of experience of working in cross-functional teams managing projects. After taking the course with several other WIA participants and studying over a 3-month period, Tracy received her PMP certification.

Outcomes & Benefits

As a result of her continued dedication and training, she was offered a new position at an education based non-profit as Director of Operations. Tracy applauded the program, saying, “I am very grateful for the investment of time and money that was afforded to me by the WIA program. It is an extremely beneficial program that is well-managed and available to all displaced workers who are willing to continually learn and grow as professionals." Congratulations, Tracy!
