Workforce Challenge

In June 2009, Al was laid off from his position as the VP of Operations for a mid-sized product development consulting company. Unfortunately, this was not the first time he had experienced a lay-off; he was also laid off in 2008 and 1996.

Workforce Solution

Al enrolled in the two-week Work Certification program offered by the Workforce Services Division of Will County. This certification helped Al refresh some critical job readiness skills and qualified him for WIA funding for additional training. Using these funds, Al pursued training at Microtrain and obtained certification in Project Management and Sharepoint.

Outcomes & Benefits

The training paid for by Workforce Services was instrumental in Al obtaining a new position as a Director of Mechanical Engineering for a local firm. Al is grateful for the services he received from WIA and says, "Their services helped me stay current and productive during my job search, thereby keeping me focused and optimistic, and eventually employed".
