Meet Brenson

Workforce Challenge

Brenson was a participant in the Summer Youth Work Experience program, but was referred to the year round WIA program because he was at risk for dropping out of school and needed support to continue. His WIA case manager encouraged him not only to stay and finish high school, but to strive for college after graduation.

Workforce Solution

As with most WIA families, Brenson needed financial assistance in order to take the ACT/SAT and to apply to colleges. Through the program, he received assistance with these fees and was able to take the exams. Brenson's case manager continued to push him to realize his full potential, helping him with his college application process.

Outcomes & Benefits

Brenson was accepted into Fort Valley State University and is now a student there. Because of the help and assistance WIA provided him, he chose a major of Business Management for Non-Profit Organizations, hoping he can help youth in similar situations to keep believing in themselves. Brenson still keeps in close contact with his WIA case manager and credits WIA with his success today.
