Meet David

Workforce Challenge

In June 2009, David was laid off from a large sporting goods retailer after having worked for the company for fourteen years.

Workforce Solution

Through the assistance of Worksource Clackamas and the Peer Advisors and due to the National Emergency grant available to employees of such a large business closing, David was able to attend college for four terms at Clackamas Community College, earning a One-Year Certificate of Completion in Retail Management.

Outcomes & Benefits

In August 2010, after earning his Certificate in Retail Management, David was hired as an Assistant Store Manager. "I have no doubt that having been given this great opportunity to spend a year in college and earn this certificate enhanced my resume and enhanced my chances of getting hired by TJ Maxx," said David. "The grant was a true blessing for me in that it allowed me to further my college education and technical training, and helped me land a great job and helped me start my new career." Congratulations, David!
