Meet Rebecca

Workforce Challenge

Rebecca was a single mother with two young sons who was unemployed and drawing Unemployment Insurance benefits. Rebecca had been taking classes required to obtain a degree in Nursing but was struggling. To help make ends meet, she moved in with her father. A friend of hers referred Rebecca to Workforce Oklahoma.

Workforce Solution

Workforce Oklahoma assisted Rebecca by providing tuition assistance, work clothing and supportive services. She also received counseling and job search assistance. One of the most important things Rebecca says she received from Workforce Oklahoma was peace of mind. "My case manager was always there to boost my morale when I struggled with day to day life as a single mother juggling motherhood, work and school. There were days when I wanted to give up and my case manager would pick me up and rejuvenate my faith in my journey."

Outcomes & Benefits

Rebecca graduated with a degree in Nursing and is currently employed as a nurse at a local hospital. She now owns a home of her own and can provide for her young sons. "I will be forever grateful to Workforce Oklahoma and the WIA program," she says.
