Meet Amber

Workforce Challenge

Amber was a single 26 year-old mom who was trying to make a better living by attending college to become a teacher. She was having trouble affording the gas she needed to get to and from school and for paying for daycare while attending night classes.

Workforce Solution

She was referred to the WIA program from the local community college. She was enrolled in the Adult program and received assistance with tuition. In two years she earned her Bachelor’s degree in education and was offered an English teaching position for the fall. At third quarter follow up she was still teaching and loving her job.

Outcomes & Benefits

This single mom now has the education and the skills necessary to create a better life for herself and her children. She is in a career where she can continue to advance her level of learning and increase her income.
