Meet Charles

Workforce Challenge

Charles Ramsey came to Mississippi following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. He was unable to find full-time employment for some time. Therefore, he worked odd jobs such as mowing yards, handyman and carpentry in order to support himself. However, he needed to find a full-time job to get his life back on track.

Workforce Solution

Charles applied and was hired at American Railcar Industries in Bude, MS in January, 2010. He was placed in On-the-Job Training through the Brookhaven WIN Job Center as a Railcar Repairer. Following the OJT period, American Railcar Industries hired him as an employee and he has not missed a day of work since he began work in January, 2010. In fact, he has advanced several steps since being employed.

Outcomes & Benefits

According to his employer, he is an asset to American Railcar: a dedicated and hard worker who is very safety conscious, works well with others, and respects his supervisor as well as his peers. In short, Charles is the type of individual that any company would be proud to have as an employee. br>
Charles is thankful to Annie Sanders of the Brookhaven WIN Job Center for all her hard work and dedication with the On-The-Job Training program.
