Meet Priscilla

Workforce Challenge

Priscilla is a single mom who had dropped out of high school and was working part-time. She needed to earn more money to provide for herself and her child, and that meant finishing her basic education and finding better employment.

Workforce Solution

Priscilla was qualified for the Summer Youth program and was hired for the summer as a clerical support technician for a local Chamber of Commerce. Through the Northern Arizona Council of Governments (NACoG), she obtained her GED in October 2010 and also received her National Professional Certification in Customer Services from the National Retail Federation (NRF). This is an industry-driven and endorsed credential that helps employers distinguish and recognize qualified customer service professionals, and helps define career advancement opportunities for candidates.

Outcomes & Benefits

Priscilla recently obtained full-time employment at $8.00 per hour and is using her customer service skills. She has come a long way since entering the program and is a success for herself and her young child.
