Meet Roger*

Workforce Challenge

Roger*, a 26 year old single dad, was left to raise two young children. He had struggled with drug addiction, but decided he didn’t want that lifestyle anymore for his children’s sake. Roger went into a treatment program and has been drug free for five years. As a Licensed Tattoo Artist, he was in the process of starting his own tattoo business but there was no child support coming in, so it was very difficult for him financially.

Workforce Solution

Roger was on food stamp assistance and the Eligibility Worker referred him to the TANF/JOBS program (a partner program in the One Stop). The TANF/JOBS program helped to cover some of his rent costs and assisted with transportation allowances and car repairs. He was so grateful for all the help he received. The money enabled him to sustain his business long enough to use the money from sales to buy business equipment and tools.

Outcomes & Benefits

Roger is a now a successful owner/operator of a growing tattoo business with well over 500 clients.
