Meet Daneil

Workforce Challenge

Daniel, an military veteran who faced significant barriers to employment, and his wife had both lost their jobs and their home in a neighboring state. After moving to Colorado Springs, they both were living at a local homeless shelter. Soon, Daniel came to the Pikes Peak Workforce Center for assistance with employment.

Workforce Solution

At the Pikes Peak Workforce Center, Daniel met with Len, a PPWFC Veterans Employment Representative, who gave him the contact information for local community agencies that provided supportive services to those who are experiencing homelessness. Then Len connected Daniel with the Goodwill Staffing office, which led to his being enrolled in the Colorado Rehire program and their transitional temporary employment to help provide for their immediate economic needs.
Through PPWFC, Daniel was also connected with Rocky Mountain Human Services, leading to several potential places that offered affordable housing.

Outcomes & Benefits

Throughout the case management process, Len continued to work with Daniel to find suitable permanent employment. After a while, Daniel was able to obtain employment as a customer service representative with a local company, earning an hourly wage with the opportunity for overtime. Since then, he and his wife have moved into an apartment!
