Meet Jesse

Workforce Challenge

Jesse came in to the Sterling Workforce Center on October 19, 2017. I assisted Jessie with registering in Connecting Colorado. During the registration, I learned that Jesse was from Rockport, Texas, and that he and his wife had recently lost their home and most of their belongings in Hurricane Harvey. Able to leave Texas with their pickup, camper and pet dogs, they headed toward Colorado and Wyoming (they have family in Cheyenne, WY, where his wife is staying.

Workforce Solution

I assisted Jesse with his job search both online and through our job search clip boards. We found several that matched his skills. Jesse filled out the applications plus I noticed we had a new job opening that had come that morning at the feedlot. Jesse was excited as he had many skills driving heavy machinery, which is what they were looking for.

Outcomes & Benefits

Jesse completed the employment application and drove to the business 20 miles away to submit it. Jesse came back into the Sterling Workforce Center the following day, Friday, October 20, to let me know that he had been interviewed and hired on-the-spot for a full-time batcher position with a good starting salary and benefits. He began working on Monday, October 23, 2017.
