Meet Law Enforcement Career Opportunities

Workforce Challenge

The Frisco Workforce Center’s Youth Career Coach organized speakers and worked with the Drop Out Program director at Lake County High School and her AmeriCorps volunteer to take students on a law enforcement career road trip. From becoming a jailer to becoming the Chief of Police or joining the Colorado State Patrol, the career pathways are limitless, but it is not for everyone.

Workforce Solution

Students from Lake County High School went to the Lake County Courthouse to meet with several people in the law enforcement field. The trip started with Fifth Judicial probation officers. The State Patrol Sargent in charge of the young adult academy in Jefferson County traveled from the Front Range to present. Each law enforcement representative provided insight to this career choice.

Outcomes & Benefits

There were several successes that came out of this career road trip. Several students showed more interest in a law enforcement career after listening to officers talk about their own careers. The Colorado State Patrol Officer Sargent Hilton, who directs the Youth Academy’s one week mini-camp, traveled from Denver. He invited students to apply and to attend this summer.
