Meet Jose

Workforce Challenge

Jose, a veteran, was interested in WIOA to obtain a Water Quality certificate. Jose was eligible for POS because he received food assistance when he came in and also because he is over 50 years old. Jose worked as a production worker until he was part of a substantial lay-off(25% or more). He had a CDLA, but stated it's hard for him to work as a truck driver since he is a single parent and can't go OTR; He doesn't have a recent credential for local work. His budget was negative. He filed for UI and was just waiting for a response.

Workforce Solution

Jose was approved for his training and also co-enrolled so we could assist with his certifications and test exam fees. He was also SPNEG as he is going into production of Water Quality Management. He was approved for each additional exam and was able to get all of the ones that are highly desired by employers.

Outcomes & Benefits

Due to his training and the fact that he was doing so well on his school and exams, he received a job offer and was able to finish his training. He is now working full tiime and is finishing up his last two exams in order to be fully eligible for his current position. He was hired with the city of Broom-field and stated he will need to pursue these credentials in order to get a promotion to the next level in pay in his current position. He stated he is happy.
