Meet Desirae

Workforce Challenge

Desirae came into our office requesting assistance with tuition for her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She is a veteran, and at time of enrollment she had a four-year-old daughter and also had custody of her 15-year-old brother. She was going through a divorce that was about to be finalized. Although her budget was okay, it was subject to change upon divorce finalization. She was working only part time in fast food; therefore, she was in desperate need of assistance.

Workforce Solution

Desirae enrolled in WIOA and received tuition assistance for her BSN training, as well as continuous support from a WIOA Case Manager and Vet Representative. Soon after graduation, she received job search assistance from both the Case Manager and Vet Representative.

Outcomes & Benefits

Upon completion of NCLEX exam, Desirae secured employment and successfully exited from the program. Desirae’s case exemplifies the impact WIOA can have in helping our veterans or those that are going through hardship due to unpredictable situations.
