Meet Deryl

Workforce Challenge

Deryl is a veteran who served in our military for eight years. He worked on helicopters while in the service. He came in to the Adams County workforce Center looking for an opportunity to advance his career in aviation. After filing for divorce and gaining custody of his three children, this disabled veteran needed to find a part time job and cut back on expenses in order to meet his monthly budget.

Workforce Solution

Deryl needed our help to combine new training with his experience in the military to make him marketable and put him back out in the workforce. We were able to help him pay for his airplane mechanic license, which gave him the electrical training he did not have in the past. He started school at Redstone College for Avionics.

Outcomes & Benefits

Deryl graduated in October, 2016, and got a job at Dyncorp International where he works as an aircraft mechanic. He said, "Thank you for helping me accomplish so much."
