Meet Lacey

Workforce Challenge

Lacey was a young adult working in the entertainment industry who was looking to move into a stable career that would provide a career pathway for her to move up. She was interested in the medical/healthcare industry, but she did not have any experience or credentials.

Workforce Solution

Lacey was enrolled in the Adams County WIOA Youth Succeed program to go through a Certified Nursing Assistant program at Front Range Community College. The Youth Succeed program provided tuition assistance for her education and assisted with transportation and career guidance. After successfully completing the CNA program, Lacey was looking for work to gain experience as a CNA. Lacey was offered a paid work experience through the program. She completed a 12-week paid work experience with a local in-patient care facility, Clear Creek Care Center.

Outcomes & Benefits

Lacey applied her learning from her CNA program in an entry-level CNA role. By the time she finished, she had gained experience and was able to work with patients on her own. Because of her excellent performance, the company hired her after he work experience. She plans to work at the facility, stably supporting herself while she learns more about rehabilitation and explores a potential career pathway in physical therapy when she chooses to enter additional post-secondary education.
