Meet Mirella

Workforce Challenge

Mirella walked into ESWC eight months pregnant with her first child. She was preparing to be a single mother and desired employment in order to provide for her child's needs.

Workforce Solution

Mirella was matched with a youth program case manager who assisted her with her individualized career pathway. Mirella and the case manager went over her interests and values as they applies to employment and found that she would most enjoy being in the medical field. Mirella was enrolled into an eight-week course to obtain a dental assisting certificate.

Outcomes & Benefits

Mirella gave birth to a health baby boy three weeks before classes started and was able to be a stay at home mom six days a week for the first two months of his life. After attending eight Saturdays of training, Mirella obtained her dental assisting certificate, Radiology certificate and was CPR certified. She now has a life long career pathway and is seeking employment in this field.
