Meet Sterling High School ICAP

Workforce Challenge

As part of the Colorado Department of Education’s required ICAP, (Individual Career and Academic Plan) Sterling High School offers an Interviewing Skills Workshop for students in the senior class each winter. As in years past, Sterling High School counseling staff requested assistance from the Sterling Workforce Center in obtaining area employers/business leader volunteers to conduct and critique mock interviews with the students.

Workforce Solution

Sterling Workforce Center assisted in recruiting 34 employer/business leader volunteers in the career areas of accounting, agriculture, banking, business, construction, corrections, education, food service, healthcare, law enforcement, military, non-profits, and retail, to conduct and critique mock interviews during the three-hour workshop. The Sterling Workforce Center also participated in the workshop with an interview table.

Outcomes & Benefits

Per Counselor and ICAP Coordinator at Sterling High School to Sterling Workforce Center staff members:
“First, thank you for your help during Friday's mock interviews. It is definitely a job to pull together over 30 employers to interview over 100 seniors. It definitely cannot be done without a great internal and external team. Kudos to you both for all your help and dedication.”
