Meet Ruben

Workforce Challenge

Ruben was a youth job seeker who was working in a fast food restaurant but interested in software and web development as a career. He had entered an IT pre-apprenticeship with Techtonic Group, LLC and was nervous about their selection process for members to go on to a registered apprenticeship.

Workforce Solution

The Adams County Youth Succeed program paid for the tuition for Ruben to attend the pre-apprenticeship training and transportation to get to the training site. Ruben worked hard learning the material. With his prior knowledge of computer programming, he assisted other students and served as a model student.

Outcomes & Benefits

Ruben was successfully chosen from a highly competitive process to become a paid apprentice at Techtonic Group's Boulder office. He will start out at a salary much more than he was making before, and he continue learning web and software development to get into a career in IT. The Director of Operations wrote, "He was top of the class, and we are excited to move forward with him."
