Workforce Challenge

Rita tells her story: “After having cancer I was unable to go back to my full time position as a registered nurse. I needed a job to help supplement my disability income. I tried to find a part time nursing or any job after I exhausted all of my efforts on my own. I decided to go to the Corinth WIN Job Center as a last resort.

Workforce Solution

As soon as I walked thru the door I was greeted with a smile and I was told they would do all they could to help me find a job. I was then given an interview with the Experience Works Coordinator; by the end of the interview I had a job. I started three days later working/training part time in Customer Service at the WIN Job Center."

During her first few days at the Center, Rita learned about additional services available at the WIN Job Center. She registered for a WIA-funded computer class and qualified for a WIA gas voucher that was greatly needed and extremely appreciated. The computer training gave Rita the extra boost of confidence she needed to succeed in her new role.

Outcomes & Benefits

"After a year of working at the WIN Job Center I have been promoted to Participant Assistant with Experience Works. Had it not been for all the services and training at the WIN Job Center, I really don’t know what I would have done. Because of the computer classes and training I feel I am part of the workforce again.”
